NILS organizes webinar on ‘Career Talks for Law Students: Beyond the Border’

A webinar titled “Career Talks for Law Students: Beyond the Border” was organized collaboratively by NILS Bangladesh & NILS Netherlands on 11 May (Wednesday ), 2022, at 11:00 am (CEST time ) and 3:00 pm (Bangladesh time). The webinar aimed at providing young & enthusiastic law students from Bangladesh & Netherlands, respectively, with the opportunity to learn elaborately about law career opportunities abroad, scholarship opportunities, statement of purpose (SOP) format & writing method, and the admission requirements for universities in the Netherlands. More than 250 participants from both countries registered for the webinar. Meiyanne Sturm, Secretary-General, Chief International Relations of NILS Netherlands, moderated the whole webinar.

The webinar began with welcome speeches from the Vice President, Chief External Relations of NILS Netherlands & President of NILS Bangladesh, respectively. In her welcome speech, Ms. Hanne Bruijnes, Vice President/Chief External Relations of NILS Netherlands, expressed her gratitude for the cooperation of its sister organization NILS Bangladesh in collaboratively arranging the webinar. She also welcomed the Bangladeshi students studying in the Netherlands to join NILS Netherlands. Ms. Lutfunnahar Shancyi, President of NILS Bangladesh, remarked that the webinar would create a new dimension in the international networking of law students.

Three prominent & resourceful speakers presented their presentations in the webinar. The first speaker of the webinar, Mr. Najmul H. Chowdhury, discussed law students abroad. Furthermore, he highlighted the funding & scholarship opportunities in different universities in the UK, USA, and Japan. Ms. Shamsin Ahmed discussed the Chevening scholarship application process and how to write a statement of purpose(SOP). In her discussion, she suggested that the applicants communicate their purpose through professional or personal experience for an effective outcome. Lastly, Mr. Alexander Lindemans shared his knowledge regarding the administration process & study opportunities in Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and other universities in the Netherlands.

At the end of the discussion, there was a Q&A session where they actively participated & interacted with the speakers. The webinar lasted for about one and half an hour.

Ms. Nasrin Sultana, Founder-Trustee of NILS Bangladesh, expressed her gratitude to the distinguished speakers in her closing remark and encouraged the organizers to arrange more programs like this.
