Continuing E-education without any T&C can be a great threat of cyber crimes
Mubin Hasan Khan Ayon: After passing some days idly during the lockdown for the novel corona virus, many educational institutes of Bangladesh continued their classes and exam via online. Private Universities are mainly started this policy in Bangladesh at first. The main reason of it was if no student had to lost their time and educational flow. They continued their classes through online app as like, Zoom, Google Classroom, Whatsapp etc. But at this moment most of the educational institutes start their class through internet.
To say in short, e-learning means an educational system by using digital devices and internet out of the classroom. Bangladesh recently has been met with this system broadly. Before some months ago, a less number of people in Bangladesh didn’t know about this learning system. Only in higher education this process was used to communicate with other country of the world. But with the demand of time this process are applying all over the country.
If we categories the educational institutes then it will be divided into 5 parts: Primary School level, High School level, College Level, University Level & Higher educational level. So, the main point to implement the e-learning system in real will be not same for the Primary School level and the University Level. A university student knows the policy of using a digital device and he is enough mature also, but a student of primary school can’t optimize a digital device properly because of his mental growth. On the contrary any digital device with internet can be a great threat for all children. It is also not possible for parents to guide their child each & every time.
E-education is a diplomatic decision without any doubt but challenging also. It is totally a new term for Bangladesh. So, generally it will take time to reach & analysis everyone. Also many questions and thoughts have already come about this system. We nobody know how many time this system will be existed, it may be temporary or permanent. Both of these views are making insecurity for the students.
If this system is temporary to continue education from individual institute then, many students will be deprived from their rights for the insufficiency of digital needs. Internet providing services in Bangladesh are not enough to continue online classes. Also the internet price is not friendly for a student. Because one have to be payed for two sectors, institutes & internet, which will be an extra pressure for major students. By the diversion of a student specially teenage there is a great chances of being diverted into the negative sides. As result without knowing a student can involve in those activities, which is already prohibited in Law. If someone feel sorry after the punishment for breaking the Law he never can’t get free for ignorance of law. Nobody can’t alert when curiosity will turn into crime.
On the contrary if authorities take decision to make e-education permanent, education system will be digital but the practical & educational knowledge of a student will be being down. The socioeconomic perspective can’t support this system for whole Bangladesh, and there will create dissimilarity among the students.
For making permanent e-education, authorities have to make a smart combination between general education system & e-education system. Though e-education will take a long time for adjusting to all but also there is lots of possibilities to fulfil this vision. To fulfil this vision we all have to make sure for taking only positive and helpful advantages of e-education. There is a great risk for taking disadvantages from e-education. So all the the related persons with e-education specially students have to be loyal and friendly.
Online education system is now a popular media worldwide, so it should also be exercised in our country. If we can make a proper usage of it, our educational life will be easy and comfort. Though it can be harmful for children and also can be harmful for adult for the overtime usage. As it is an electronic and digital device based education system, many offences can be occurred as cyber crime. Law related many technical problem can be a great threat after time, because nowadays this education system is continuing without any terms and conditions.
As all of discussed above, at present in Bangladesh online education is also popular. Though most of the educational Institute of Bangladesh has been working physically but online education system is not getting off. Behind practical classes students and teachers are also taking the online facilities. So it’s almost being fixed to some activities of educational institute will continue through online system.
As far the popularity of online education has some great facilities insofar, there is also some chances of detoured of some crimes which can be a worst experiences for career without knowing about the crime. When the exercises of online education will be increased, the chances of crimes defined by the law exercising in Bangladesh. For example, a student of class ten can search anything for his online studies. But there is a difference between online and offline search. When s/he is searching offline, s/he have to search in his text books but in online s/he gets a huge options on his search.
In digital world, our country people is not being developed with Law as they are developing in technology. Only for these reason Cyber Law can’t be applied in all sections. The ignorance of learning law is a big reason for why people are falling in digital crimes. Usually the Acts of cyber law is not popular to all. In Bangladesh these specific sections of specific acts are generally used:
Information and Communication Technology Act, 2006; Digital Security Act, 2018; Article 43(B) of the Bangladesh Constitution, 1972; Telecommunications Act, 2001; Sections 407, 408, and 409 of the Penal Code 1860
One of most notable point is: When the term of online education comes, the term of online related law is not properly exercised as online education. Most of the people ignore the part of “LAW” that, this is not a matter of concern!
After all every invention has positive and negative usages and necessity is the mother of invention. We are now using e-education for own necessity. So this system should not to be accessed more than necessity, if so it will be harmful for us. Authorities should to make a proper terms and conditions for the users to provide this system safe and strict. We all have to know about the LAW of the system for the proper use of it. Otherwise we can’t take any benefits from digital sectors properly.
